Overview

Wattyo uses the Usage concept as a generalization of the data that is required to calculate the usage-based billing.

Examples of Usages could be:

• The kWh consumed by a service point.
• The water consumed by a service point.
• The number of minutes for Phone number.
• The number of messages for a messaging service.
• The number of books read in a library.
• etc.

Wattyo is totally agnostic about the type of usage you want to bill. You can define as many usages as you need and configure the system to calculate the billing based on them.

Consumption

Although Wattyo is agnostic about the type of usage you want to bill, the out-of-the-box implementation comes with a specific implementation for the Consumption concept. This is because the Consumption object is the most common usage data that is required to calculate the billing.
